A little bit about mwah!
Anyae Anasia pronounced (On-Yay Uh-Nay-Juh) is a recent graduate of Texas State University’s Musical Theatre program, where she studied under Kaitlin Hopkins. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Orlando, Florida, Anyae has always been a creative force, discovering her passion for theatre in middle school. As a Black artist, she strives to break barriers, tell untold stories, and create work that explores the complexities of humanity.
At TXST, Anyae made a significant impact both on stage and behind the scenes. She was cast as the role of Sour Kangaroo in Seussical, led several productions, and performed as a lead in the Black & Latino Playwrights Festival multiple times. She also interned with Broadway Dreams and worked with industry professionals like Andy Blankenbuehler, Betsy Wolfe, Gavin Creel, and Alex Newell. Anyae understudied Georgie in The Full Monty at Transcendence Theatre and was the original Ivana in Five: The Parody Musical Off-Broadway.
In addition to her performance work, Anyae is a passionate producer and director. She produced and directed TXST’s first Young, Gifted, and Black celebration, a Black History Month event that garnered media attention and was invited to perform at TEDx. She has created innovative projects such as a virtual quarantine cabaret, original music and poetry for a conceptual film, and site-specific plays, showcasing her versatility as both a creator and collaborator.
Anyae is committed to honoring those who paved the way before her while inspiring future generations of artists. She continues to challenge the boundaries of theatre and aims to create work that amplifies underrepresented voices.
